We are situated in the idyllic Glasshouse Mountains region on the Sunshine Coast.

Our facility is the only purpose built, climate controlled reptile boarding facility in Queensland

Owned and operated by Dr Danny Brown, the facility benefits from the knowledge of a world renowned reptile husbandry book author, with 27 years as a reptile veterinarian and over 40 years as a reptile breeder.

 

What service do we offer?

We operate 365 days a year and cater for the following reptiles:

All lizard species

Non-venomous snake juveniles

(we can offer boarding for individuals currently housed in and presented in tub style hatchling enclosures (Click Clacks/Sistema tubs)

We do not have facilities for large sized snakes

 

 

Health of your pet is our priority

For this reason, we require all incoming pets to have had an appropriate health check in the past 6-12 months by a recommended reptile veterinarian. Different species will require different levels of health clearance as below:

  • Bearded Dragons - health check + negative Adenovirus test
  • Blue tongue skinks and Shinglebacks - health check + negative Nidovirus test
  • Other lizards - health check
  • Juvenile snakes - health check

Housing

 

Your reptiles are housed in state-of-the-art custom built housing from URBAN RACKS .

Their PVC construction means they are impermeable to moisture and easily cleaned and disinfected between clients

Each enclosure is provided with species appropriate hides, enrichment and substrate to maximise their physical and mental well being during their stay with us.

Enclosures are provided with heating and UVB lighting appropriate to the species being housed. UVB lighting is replaced every 6 months.

Juvenile snakes are to be boarded in their own tub environment to reduce stress and this will then be placed in a temperature controlled environment.

All enclosures and feed and water bowls are cleaned at least once daily and disinfected with F10 regularly. All individuals have their own specific feeding utensils for the duration of their stay with us.

 

 

Feeding

All reptiles will be offered freshly prepared food as close as possible to the diet you normally feed them at home.

Lizards may be offered fresh fruit and vege chop, live or thawed insects, pelleted or gel diets and other dietary enrichment.

Snakes will be fed according to your typical schedule and food type.

 

Boarding Rates

 

All reptiles are boarded at a flat rate of :

 

$30 per day

 

Reduced rates are offered for :

  • Multiple animals from the same owner boarded at the same time (10% discount)
  • Individuals sharing a single enclosure (50% discount for the additional animal)
  • Full week rates (7 days) - $200 per week.
  • Long term boarding (> 4 weeks) (10% discount)

 

 

Medical Treatments

We are quite happy to cater for individuals undergoing treatment for non-infectious conditions (trauma, post surgical medication). For the safety of our other clients, reptiles being treated for infectious diseases (respiratory disease, gastrointestinal disease, parasites) cannot be boarded. We are happy to speak to your veterinarian with regards to suitability. We are able to administer all medication types as required. Medication requirements will attract an additional fee of $7.50 per day.

 

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Boarding fees are calculated per calendar day basis (from check in day to check out day).
  • Our preferred operating hours are 9am to 5 pm however we understand that life is rarely that simple and will work with you to accommodate as best we can. If the time of drop off or pick up is after dark, access to the boarding facility will not be allowed as other yard occupants do not appreciate night time interactions. Pets will be handed over directly in another area under these circumstances.
  • To confirm a booking, a $50 non-refundable deposit is required. This will be forfeited should the booking be cancelled.
  • Payment may be made in full prior to or during the boarding period and the balance must be finalised upon departure.
  • Payments may be made by cash, EFTPOS or bank transfer. A Paypal invoice will be supplied with full itemised details.
  • Upon arrival, your name and permit details will be added to my property record book and recorded as "Boarding client". Upon discharge your details will be removed from my record book. This is a DES requirement.

Please note that all incoming boarding clients must have an up to date veterinary health check prior to arrival, from a recognised reptile veterinarian. This is to ensure that all boarded pets are at the lowest possible risk with regards to contagious diseases. A list of suggested reptile veterinarians in your area can be found on the main page.

Bearded Dragons require a health check in the last 6-12 months and a negative Adenovirus test.

Blue tongues and shinglebacks require a health check in the last 6-12 months and a negative Nidovirus test.

All Other lizards, turtles and hatchling snakes - health check in the last 6-12 months

We can only board reptiles that are legally owned and licenced.

We are more than happy to cater for pets that usually share an enclosure. Please add any pets sharing together as a single pet at the next step e.g. Pet #1 - Sam and Fluffly
