COMING SOON – A Guide to Australian Lizards in Captivity (2nd Edition) – TWO VOLUME SET

$360.00

The long overdue second edition of my 2014 title is almost ready. With an expected release date of May/June 2026. Recommended retail price will be $360 for the two volume set ($110 for volume 1 and $250 for volume 2). Individual volumes can be purchased separately.
The previous edition was a monster at 952 pages but there have been so many changes in the past decade with regards to taxonomy, trends, keeping patterns and products that a single title could no longer accommodate the extra information that has blown out to 1200 pages,
Volume 1 (approx 350 pages) encompasses a comprehensive text on Husbandry and management. It covers General Husbandry including Stock Selection, Handling and Hygiene, Transportation, Purchase Etiquette, Security and Safety, Quarantine, Indoor and Outdoor Enclosure Options, Enclosure Size, Compatibility, Ventilation, Substrate Choices, Hide Sites, Enclosure Enrichment, Heating, Lighting, Thermostats, Invertebrate and Vertebrate Food Items, Artificial Diets, Culturing Insect foods, Dietary Supplements and Dealing with Feeding Problems, Sexing Techniques, Courtship and Mating, Cooling and Separation, Reproductive Strategies, Caring for Gravid Females, Nest Facilities, Egg Management, Artificial Incubation facilities and regimes, Temperature Dependent Sex Determination, Hatchling Care, common Diseases and Disorders, administration of Medications and a comprehensive 60 page section on morphs and mutations.
Volume 2 ( approx 850 pages) covers species accounts of all Australian lizard species in captivity in nearly 40 chapters. Each chapter systematically presents information on Genus/Species Descriptions, Sexing, Subspecies, Distribution, Habitat, Captive Status, Indoor and Outdoor Housing, Compatibility, Feeding, Breeding Methods, Incubation, Colour Variants and Hybrids.
An enormous number of new species have been described since the first edition and these are now included within this text with corrections to taxonomic names and over 800 new images.
